Hallo Peter,

the 414 is 50km away from my home and I have no key for the observatory in Nuremberg.
The output of atik_test_ccd is attached.

Hello Cherno,
I used an Atik 414EX a couple of days ago and didn't notice it was slow. The 414EX was connected to a Odroid and the image transfer was done by wifi to the PC.
So all seemed normal.
But can you clarify what you mean by slow. Is it a question of speed transfer between the camera and your PC ?

Hi, I see no error in the log. The download time is 1.7-1.8s. I suspect that in this case the problem is image transfer over wifi or something like this? Peter

That is the time transfer I have in mind for my last shooting night.

I can play with the 414 not earlier than 7th of July. Then I will compare the times to connect to camera and to start an exposure between 414 and 460.

Thanks

Back again. I tested Atik 460, 420, 414, Lodestar and on old QHY5. I control them all at the commandline with indi_getprop and indi_setprop.

Only the 414 is slow. I measured the time it takes for the prompt to come back.

Atik460:
indiserver -vv indi_atik_ccd 2>serverlog_20170708.txt
wait 1 minute
indi_getprop    --> 3s
indi_setprop "Atik 460ex CCD.CONNECTION.CONNECT=On"  --> imediately
indi_getprop     --> 3s
indi_setprop "Atik 460ex CCD.CCD_TEMPERATURE.CCD_TEMPERATURE_VALUE=-5.0"  --> immediately

Atik414:
indiserver -vv indi_atik_ccd 2>serverlog_20170708.txt
wait 1 minute
indi_getprop  --> 13s
indi_setprop "Atik 414ex CCD.CONNECTION.CONNECT=On" --> 13s
indi_getprop  --> 13s
indi_setprop "Atik 414ex CCD.CCD_TEMPERATURE.CCD_TEMPERATURE_VALUE=-5" --> 13s

To find out what happens I did strace the indi_getprop calls.
So I do not really understand what is going on with the different cams I attach the two files.
That's all I can do for now.

Can you also try to run atik_ccd_test on that machine? Peter

P.S. Is it really the same machine? I see different IP addresses in the log, so maybe some DNS timeouts are involved.

I suspect it is network, maybe lookup DNS related issue. Peter

I cannot test the 414 until 4th of August. But I think you are right.
At home the indiserver works well if started with network initially on or initially off. But if the network goes down while the server is running the time lags happen again. The cameras are always connected via usb cable and a network connection is not essential.
Wireshark tells something about some standard queries. I do not understand what is going on and what is it good for.

Anyway. There was a problem and a solution where I never would think about.
Thank you!

Now I tested the Atik 414 in the observatory in Nuremberg without network connection.
Everything was ok. 414 responded normal as other ccds outside the strange network in this observatory.
Thank you very much for your hints.
