Atik 4000 "dispatch error"

Hello,

I have at least one, maybe 2 problems with indi_atik_ccd driver and an atik 4000 : the symptoms are the same on both a raspberry 2B,
and a laptop/debian, so the driver might be responsible :

I often get "dispatch error"s after a while when trying to download images. It seems to happen randomly,
but one sure way to trigger it is to try and tweak with temperature :

temperature settings and monitoring are inconsistent, reported temp look more or less random with values
up to several thousands. Trying to set the temperature result has no visible effect other than triggering
a driver "restart" and "dispatch error" on any subsequent request to the driver ; only solution is to stop/restart
the indiserver.

The camera works flawlessly under windows.

Packages used were :
driver for 64-bit Intel Debian Linux atikccd-1.4-amd64.deb
driver for ARMHF V7 Debian Linux atikccd-1.4-v7-armhf.deb
from www.cloudmakers.eu/atikdrivers/

(atik_ccd_test ran smoothly)

Does anyone has some clues/ideas/feedback about atik 4000 and indi_atik_ccd ?
Thank you in advance.

Hi François, driver was actually tested with 11000, but it should be the same camera class. Can you copy & paste here output from atik_ccd_test? Thank you, Peter

Hi Peter,

here are some logs :
1. a screenshot showing 9k temperature, just for the record :)
2. the output of atik_ccd_test on the raspberry
3. the log of the indiserver indi_atik_ccd on the raspbery
4. the output of atik_ccd_test on the hp laptop/debian
5. the log of kstars running on the hp laptop with a locally running indiserver indi_atik_ccd

Thank you for your time.
Regards,

It seems, that the camera for some reason and only sometime reports invalid temperature sensor type. I'll consult it with the vendor and let you know. Peter

Hi Peter,

do you have some news about my problem ?
actually it is quite a burden for me as I have no other solutions than
operating the camera through an extra windows laptop... So any solution
available to use that camera under any of my debian (laptop, rpi) will do the job.

Thank you for your time.
Best,

Ok.
I guess those people are in charge of the packages available here :
www.cloudmakers.eu/atikdrivers/ ?

Is there a (even small) chance that the (seemingly recent) v1.5 addressed the issue (I tested only v1.4) ?
I will test this new version anyway.
Thanks again.

Hi François, the only one in charge for this driver is me :)

This issue is not handled in 1.5, driver simply returns what camera reports it is wrong. I just received reply from Atik, that early version of this camera had such issue, but they should investigate, how it is handled in Windows driver. I'll let you updated.

Hi François, please can you try version 1.6? I think, I can reproduce the issue and found one 200ms relay which is in windows code and was missing in INDI driver. Peter

Hi,

I had similar problems with my Atik 11000. I have just tried version 1.6 of the atik driver. In my case it works when binning mode is set to 2 or higher. But when I take unbinned images the download never completes. Also the temperature indicator lights up red after a little while. The only way to get the camera working again is by powering down and reconnecting the power (and restart indi server as well).

I have attached the message log that 'indiserver -vvv indi_atik_ccd' creates. Hopes this provides a hint to what is causing this problem.

Best regards,
Camiel
