INDI Library v2.0.6 is Released (02 Feb 2024)

Bi-monthly release with minor bug fixes and improvements

ToupTek GCMOS Driver

Replied by Jasem Mutlaq on topic ToupTek GCMOS Driver

Why don't you ask them to provide it for arm & arm64 architectures? If they do, then I might consider developing a driver for it.

EDIT: Nevermind, checked the SDK and they used C# and Mono so you can't write INDI drivers for them unless you use some sort or wrapper or bridge.

Many thanks knro,

I will probably email ToupTek in any case just to suggest the ARM driver and whether they have considered / have any plans for an Indi driver.

In the absence of this support, can you offer any advice on guiding camera(s) which have functioning Indi drivers on eg. Raspberry Pi / other ARM variants? I thought I read in a recent topic about an issue with the ASI120 cameras on ARM also but am not certain.

There are several options out there, and I believe ASI120 work pretty well so far. If you can afford it, go for Lodestar X2.

I also wrote to Touptek and asked about ARM linux support.
They replied: we only support x86 and x64.

So I have preliminary driver in the works but I don't have access to a camera to test. I requested one from ToupTek but we will see if they reply. Who here can provide remote access to a machine with the ToupCam attached to it so I can do remote testing at least? I hope to get one locally here it would be much better to test than remote but I'll work with what I have now.

With guidance I could give you remote access to mine - just not sure how to do that. Alternatively I could build the driver and try it out. I've got my camera running on Ubuntu with the native driver so I know it works on that platform.

You just need to install TeamViewer and then send me the details as a private message. Make sure the camera is attached to your PC.

Hi,
The last post on this topic was written more than a year ago.
Does anyone know if ToupTek cameras (USB 2.0) are working with StellarMate now?

On the camera compatibility list here on indilib.org it looks like all ToupTek cameras are supported, but I want to be sure since I already tried a ZWO ASI camera and failed due to the apparently "well known" issue with ASI USB 2.0 firmware not working correctly with Linux.
And this topic also makes me extra careful about getting a ToupTek camera.

I am thinking about getting this one:
www.astroshop.eu/astronomical-cameras/to...-mono-guider/p,51865

But it must work with StellarMate, otherwise I will return it.

Thanks in advance,

Yes they should work well, let me know if you run into any issues.

IF you see issues on StellarMate/RPI3, try to reduce the USB speed setting in the driver.

Never used one of those, but I can vouch for the ASI120MM-S.

That does work like a charm.

I also have the ASI120MM (USB2 version) as you do, so I can speak from direct comparison.

Your experience with the ASI120MM mini mirrors my experience with the ASI120MM.

But, as I said, the ASI120MM-S works like a charm, so I would highly recommend going for that. Anything else is just another experiment.

Just an update on this topic.
I bought the ToupTek Camera GP-1200-KMB Mono Guider and I have been using it with Stellarmate without any issues for almost half a year now.
So the ToupTek driver works fantastic.

I am suprised of the sensitivity of that small camera and even though it is not designed for Deep Sky photography it collects a lot of signal in very short time.
Here is for example M42 - Orion Nebula with only 20 minutes of data collected and I already saw a lof of signal on a 10 second exposure.

Then you might be amazed by what you can get from, for example, a IMX290 chip (the GPCMOS2000). It's QE is pretty high, pixels small and noise negligible.
