Minimum exposure time ATIK 314L

Hello,

some days ago I made my first steps with Ekos and our Atik 314L (without +). It works very nice, but the lowest exposure time I found is 0.01 seconds. From the original Atik Software (Artemis Capture) I know, that the camera is able to perform exposure times down to 0.001 seconds. Is this possible with INDI/Ekos too?

Greetings,
Christian

Hi Christian,
I'm afraid that camera-timed exposure is needed to for such short times but it is not supported by current INDI Atik driver (but I have it in my TODO list).

Thanks for the fast reply :) The short exposure times will be a nice feature (for example for bias or bright objects). The current INDI Atik driver is already very nice, because now our whole equipment is supported by INDI :)

Hello ,

Great driver, thank you. I'm testing it with a 460 by capturing bias frames. I have the same problem with the minimal exposure of 0.01 instead of 0.001
Any chance of progress here ? Would be great.

Hi Carlos,

this was year ago, now driver supports camera timed exposures (and uses them for exposure times shorter than 0.5s). Are you sure that this is limitation of the driver and not Ekos GUI?

Hi Peter,

thank you for the fast answer. It might be true. I will ask in ekos/kstars forum. The gui is reseting my entry to 0.01. I though it's wrapping and enforcing the value from the driver below. thank you again for the great driver.

cheers

Hi Carlos, so the problem is really in the driver, not in the code, but in property metadata, min value is set to 0.01. I'll fix it and release new version this weekend. Peter

Oh, very nice. CCD capturing as intended with 0.001 exposure. Thank you Peter !
I visited the Atik booth at the ATT in Essen today. The Atik guys were nice and told me about you, because I asked them about their "Linux strategy"

thank you again

Hi,

I have an Atik 314E and it seems the driver has a lower limit of 0,01s. I can't take bias with the minimum exposure of 0,001s.
I'm running the driver version 0.32.

new edit : I can select 0,001s when i'm running the driver in local mode but not in remote control with the driver 0.32 for Raspberry

If you're using the INDI Raspberry PI package, it wasn't updated with the 0.32 ATIK version. Tomorrow's INDI Raspberry PI should have the latest version.

Yes you're right. It is version 0.25.

Another dumb question, do you know why is the Atik driver not open source ?

Thank you Jasem.
