Well, I've gone quite backwards here at the moment. I can't even get kstars running:

I commented it out and now it's further along and hangs trying to start ekos. I'm doing a few more updates of other libraries so I'll see if that makes a difference.

Success, I'm back in action. I'm not sure exactly what cured it, but after the previous failure:

I updated indi and rebuilt;
Rebuilt cmake and the cmake extras
Rebuilt glib/glibc
Rebuilt kstars.

I've attached (I think) the logs of the filter wheel test. It still showed it as being connected.

Also, I found a small bug I think: on the ekos setup panel, when you hit disconnect devices, it seems to work, but doesn't change state to allow the connect devices to work? If I go back to the devices panel, it shows the device as being disconnected correctly.

Another issue, related to the Guider Config - I tried to get it to have compressed instead of raw (and then saved the config), however I noticed in this run that it has gone back to raw again. It seems not to save the value?

Well, the SBIG driver is retarded! Did you notice ANY difference between plugged and unplugged? product ID ? firmware ? it's all the same in both cases?

No differences at all - but I admit I wasn't looking hard for differences - just to see if things were working. The behaviour for when it's plugged in is a great improvement to me btw if this can be sorted out somehow.

And looking more closely at the logs... yeah, that's really dumb that it's reporting the same details connected or not.

About the only difference in the logs is that when it's connected you can see the CFW Status Busy state come up as it sets the initial FW position from config. For unplugged it must "return" immediately and therefore never has to wait. That could give you a way around the problem of detecting if it's truly connected or not?

Yes in fact I thought about that, but that is just too hackish in my book. Can you confirm one last time that CFW firmware is ALWAYS zero? I will try to contact SBIG to see if they suggest something. Thanks a lot for the testing, really appreciate it! I will check the issue with raw vs. compressed soon.
