QHY5P-II Color was created by fehlfarbe

Hi,

I want to buy a QHY5P-II color camera for meteor detection and weather observing with my Raspberry Pi 2. The INDI QHY device page says "Only mono cameras are supported now, and support for other models including color is currently under development.".
Does this mean QHY color cameras are not working in general or can I take grayscale images just with bayer pattern?

I think you get the gray-scale image, not sure if luminance only or with bayer pattern, you have to try and let us know because QHY documentation does not cover color cameras.

I just added bayer support to QHY, but it needs testing.

Hi,

I got my camera today. How can I test the bayer support?

Take an image, if you see debayer option enabled in KStars FITSViewer than that means you got a color image. You'd have to test in in the field to make sure you are getting a correct color image though.

Hey, I took an indoor image with a cs lens (unfortunately I only have a c-mount adapter so the image is blurry) and FITSViewer shows me a very red image. I saved the raw image and the debayered image. But ds9, GIMP, Imagemagick and Fitswork just show me a grayscale image.
I also tried to debayer the raw image with Fitswork (RGGB pattern, bayer astro). I get a green image, same with OpenCV debayer. Is there a way to get the right color balance?

well, I'm just following QHY Bayer example. Please ask QHY in their forums and hopefully they answer you back and investigate.

I think there is a problem with the data depth. I took an image from my window and there are black pixels at overexposured areas in the raw image. The fits file has 8 bit data maybe the camera delivers 12 bit images?

I'm just reading the camera feed, I'll ask QHY and see what they have to say.

Thanks! Yesterday I took some test images with EZPlanetary on my Windows PC. The color is fine but it seems the color problems in overexposured areas depend on gain settings. I got same artefacts at 100% but no problems with gain < 100%.
