TOPIC: Tip for Ekos on low-powered devices

Tip for Ekos on low-powered devices 1 year 2 months ago #12499

A lot of improvements took place recently to improve CPU and memory usage of INDI/KStars. INDI LIbrary v1.3+ already supports fast BLOB mode so this is pretty much as fast as it can gets, but for those of you using DSLR/CCDs on Raspberry PIs and Ekos on the other end, KStars now enables you to turn off some options which should save processing and memory usage as well. These tips are meant for those running INDI/Ekos on low-powered devices like Raspberry PI with limited memory.

1. Auto-Debayer: Debayering makes your image appears in color in KStars FITS Viewer, and this can take a lot of processing power and memory, so if you don't need to see the image in color, turn it off.
2. 3D Cube: Some frames are sent are RGB images, and again this can take a lot of memory loading up. Turn it off and only the R mono frame is displayed.
