I've followed the instructions load Kstars on Ubuntu. I can open it, but when I try to connect to the camera, Canon 80D, I get a message that indi_canon_ccd crashed.
From terminal I ran indiserver -v indi_canon_ccd. It finds the camera, but then Failed to find model USB PTP Class Camera in GPhoto CCD.
What version is your gphoto2/libgphoto? Support for that particular camera was only solidified in the past few months, so older versions may still have issues.
When I run sudo apt-get install gphoto2 it is installing 2.5.4, which I see doesn't support this model.
However, I didn't have this installed and was selecting Canon DLSR in the config. I tried installing and didn't make a difference. I can't figure out how to get a higher version of gphoto2 and libgphoto2 installed.
This is the tutorial i followed and it does not mention tin install gphoto2.
I have been able to update Ubuntu to have Gphoto2 2.5.11 and Libgphoto2.2.5.13. Running gphoto2 --auto-detect I can now see the camera, but now the Canon CCD doesn't show in the Ekos drop down list box for camera. It did under 2.5.9, but this camera isn't supported there. I'm not sure where to look, but it sees the PPA is installing the INDI_CANON_CCD, but when installing libgphoto2 it is removing it.
Is there a way around this?
Ok. I found it in /usr/bin. When I run an upgrade to 13. the files are removed. When I run sudo apt-get install indi-full it put it back, but makes the libgphoto as version 2.5.9.
The INDI_CANON_CCD is a shortcut to INDI_GPHOTO_CCD.
OK. In Ubuntu I ran the install of INDI and Kstars. Then did the compile and make and make install of libgphoto2, but how can I tell the version? I installed apt-show-versions and it looks like its still 2.5.9.
