Actually, if you click the icon and then click it to toggle it off, then click it again to toggle it back on it works. This bug appeared when qt was updated. I think it was with the 5.9 update. I think it was a few months ago. When it happened, I tried many things to fix it. It appears to be a bug in the QT code. I didn't report it to qt, but probably should have.
If I remember right, the bug appears to be with this QT command: QWidget::createWindowContainer
Basically the command doesn't work as it used to work and as it is documented to work. It comes up blank the first time it is used no matter what I did. I tried things like running the command and then using a timer before trying to display it thinking that maybe it just hadn't had time to update or something. I also tried toggling it off and then back on programmatically. That didn't work either.
