Here's a SS of it all in action. What logs would be good?

(EDIT) Here's the logfile from EKOS as well.

Did you remove modemmanager on this installation?

Yes. The only change made. Clean install, installed all relevant Indi/Kstars stuff, removed modemmanager. No script install on this one (although now I don't think that is the problem)

What happens if you use the bluetooth manager to create a serial connection?
I predict it will create one on /dev/rfcomm1
Do you have any success connecting to /dev/rfcomm1 under those conditions?

Edit: Also when I check my Bluetooth Devices, I do not have the colorful connection bars associated with the device under my working configuration until after EQMOD has connected.

It created /dev/rfcomm0 with the same results. Here is the SS and the logs from this attempt. I did notice that the permissions on /dev/rfcomm0 this time were different, but it still didn't work.

(EDIT) I should note, I had to disable the bind command in /etc/rc.local, I could not bind to a serial port with the BT manager if one was already created at boot.

Have you repaired the dongle since the last time you connected it to the PC?

Pretty much the same results, only this time I didn't get the graphical bars when the BT connected.

Try it with the rc.local setting back on and reboot. Then do not touch the bluetooth manager, just fire up KStars.
Edit: Perhaps continue this in Private Messages.

No change. We can go to PMs.

If anyone else has any ideas, please chime in. It appears everything is fine up to the 'handshake' when Ekos tries to connect to the BT via /dev/rfcomm0. That's where the first error is.

Hi Scott,

You may have seen this one already:

www.indilib.org/forum/general/3100-how-t...uetooth-adapter.html

One element needed could also be “trust xx:xx:xx:xx:xx” when running bluetoothctl but have to admit my technical skills are very limited.

Good luck!

Thanks for responding! I followed those instructions you linked and ended up with the exact same results. According to the logs the failure happens at 'handshake'. Ekos sees the port, Indi appears to be using the port, but the connection always fails at the handshake.

Hm... did you try only to connect to the BT Adapter, leaving the cameras outside?

I had once an identification-problem with the serial ports when using Eq mount and Arduino based focuser, resolved with this approach:
