oh! it still might just be qt.conf. the plugins directory is not Plugins, its PlugIns

[Paths]
Plugins = PlugIns

ok, I think I understand the issue now. Somehow when I ran the build, it didn't run the macdeployqt step correctly. There are files missing from the plugins folder. The qt.conf file is missing, but the files it tells the system to look for in plugins are missing too. I will check on the build computer and see why this didn't work.

Thank you for your help. I should be able to fix this now.

Ok, I have updated the KStars Mac DMG. There was a typo in the build script on the macdeployqt line. That explains why the qt.conf file was not created and why the plugins were not exported correctly. Please try the dmg again as soon as possible.

Thanks,

Rob

Rob, you nailed it! KStars now starts fine for me. Unfortunately I removed all data directories in an attempt to get it working last night so I have to start over but it is no big deal. The only thing is that I needed to create the ~/Library/Application Support/kstars directory by hand because KStars refused to start without it. Once I did that, however, all is fine. Thanks very much for the hard work you did to fix this!

I'm trying to install Kstars 2.9.5 and am finding it crashes on my system. I've added an empty directory "kstars" in ~/Library/Application Support/, and after running kstars, it populates it with files. However, I cannot get past that point. I get the Kstars banner, and it crashes as the dialoge says "Loading satellites". Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

We will need more information. Either a log of KStars as it is loading or the terminal output as it is starting if you run it from the command line.

It worked on my main desktop computer, but now am trying to get it working on my laptop for in the field. It freezes after populating the kstars directory. Here's the output of the terminal session. The output starts after I tell it to copy to the kstars directory, and then it freezes - spinning beach ball. No other output on the terminal window comes up.
