INDI Library v2.0.7 is Released (01 Apr 2024)

Bi-monthly release with minor bug fixes and improvements

Ekos Mount Module

Hey folks, I'm planning on developing an Ekos mount module and would like to see what you guys think is essential. Most of it will be "front end" of things you can already do in the INDI Control Panel, but sometimes the INDI control panel can be overwhelming especially to new users so the idea is to put the most important stuff there.

So here is the preliminary list:

1. Visual arrow keys for motion control: Plain buttons OK, or something more fancy? 4 primary arrows + 4 NE/NW/SW/SE arrows?
2. Telescope & Guide telescope info: Aperture & Focal length
3. Selection of slew speeds..etc if supported
4. Mount limits?
5. Mount+Scope 3D visualization? Ok, that's a "stretch goal", but let's see how important folks think this is.
6. Current RA/DEC & ALT/Az coordinates

Any ideas are appreciated!

I think it sounds as a great idea!

I was actually thinking during the last session that it would be nice if you had buttons to press to move the mount when you want to frame an object.

IMO, using a joystick for that purpose is much easier than clicking on buttons on the monitor!

I would like also to see dome here. In MaximDL there is a 2D representation of telescope and dome positions. Useful indeed, especially for debugging slaving :)

It would be nice an android or ios app for remote n/s/w/e , shutter, park, search and slew, solve and slew etc. All the static parameters for the set-up could be in one place
- like aperture, f ratio, pixel size.... I don't change my set-up very often so all of those could be tucked away( in Settings for example) instead of cluttering the control panel.

Just a thought

An easy way to setup the mount limits please, something similar to EQmod.
A visual representation of where the scope is doing, as in a little 3D model (nothing crazy).

That would be cool! But it will take time as I understand... I am waiting, for example, BLOB support :)

On the mount module, what does the "save" button do please?

It just sets aperture and focal length and saves them in the mount configuration file.

Hi Jasem,

In the mount module, the park button does not unpark the scope, not sure if this is a feature or a bug.
