TOPIC: Remote astrometry solver

Remote astrometry solver 10 months 3 weeks ago #12813

/me dumb when not sleeping enough, as tab "INDI Control Panel Solver" equals "V4L2 CCD Astrometry"
Congrats for spotting the binning feature, I was using that yes, sorry for not noticing and reporting.
I rebuilt astrometry.net from github (hence my issues with '/usr/local/astrometry/bin' for instance), I'll test this soon.

KStars is being build now as well, so the PPA should have the update with the next couple of hours.

When trying the remote solve with CCD simulator, I have the message "CCD does not support remote solver." The solver is actually launched, and completes successfully as I can see in the Astrometry debug log, but the Align panel still shows a processing icon next to the stop button until I hit stop, at which time it says "Solver aborted after xxx seconds".
I'm also trying with a Nikon DSLR, and I have the same message ("CCD does not suppport...") and the solver is not launched.
Anything wrong in my setup?
I'm running Indi Library 1.4.1 on Raspberry Pi 3, Kstars 2.7.5 on Windows.
Thanks in advance.

You need to use INDI Astrometry driver in your profile. Select the Astrometry driver from the Auxiliary dropdown selection in your Ekos equipment profile. How did you install INDI LIbrary on the Raspberry PI?

Thanks for your answer. The Astrometry driver is indeed running. Install was done through the ppa (indi-full package), and regularly updated to the latest ppa version. The Pi is installed with Ubuntu Mate 16.04.

As I mentioned, the alignment procedure does launch a solve, which completes successfully. The Align tab does not display the resulting solution coordinates.
When a solve is running, pressing the Stop button does not stop the solve.
CCD simulator driver debut show nothing regarding the solve. Astrometry driver logs look exactly how I suppose they should.
Is there any other log I can provide you or anything else to try?

It appears like you're using an older version of KStars since the message "CCD does not support remote solver." was removed quite a while ago. Make sure you have the latest stuff.
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get -y dist-upgrade

And just to make sure nothing was missing, after the above is complete, run this:
sudo apt-get -y install kstars-bleeding libindi1 indi-bin indi-full

That did it, thanks, everything works perfectly. Sorry, I mistakenly thought I had the last KStars version. It's on windows, so no auto-update.
Thanks again.

Will this allow me to point my RPI3 Ekos setup to my Mac on same LAN running Ekos or the CloudMakers INDI server?

I attempt to do this can could not find where on the Astromtery/ASI1600 INDI pages, or the Align module, to point to the IP address of my Mac.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Some time on my RPI3 even with fields defined, it takes too long to solve.

Yes, but you have to chain your local RPI3 INDI server with the INDI server running at Mac.

I tried to get this working. Does chaining need to happen out side of EKos and Indi-webmanager?

Please confirm I have the correct tutorial. I should be back to testing this next week.

I haven't tried it with INDI Web Manager, but use INDI Web Manager on your desktop to start INDI server with astrometry, then under INDI Web Manager on your Pi, select your equipment and then under "Custom Drivers", set it to something like Astrometry@IP_ADDRESS_OF_DESKTOP_HERE

Maybe that would work.
