Yes, that is the last section of the script. It installs the web interface, starts it up, and provides a link to it on the desktop.

I ran the script this evening on my Raspberry Pi 3 and it went flawlessly. Thanks again for putting this together, it is really very useful!

Awesome. Glad to hear it. I think there are still a couple of issues though. Last night when I ran it on the odroid, I was doing testing and I realized that my samba shares were working but the shared folders were not visible on the connecting computer. I think I just need to change smb.conf. I plan to check that out tonight and see what needs to be done. It's a fairly minor issue, until you try to share a folder, and it seems to work . . . but doesn't. But yeah, for raspberry pi 3, I think its all working other than that.

Turns out it was an issue only on the 64 bit system. So something on the Odroid is preventing samba from working with caja-share correctly. The Raspberry Pi Samba setup is correct.

Thanks to Jasem's help, GSC is now compiling on arm64 so the script can now set that up properly for the 64 bit script. And I think I finally fixed the samba issue for the 64 bit system as well. So the 64 bit script should be ready to test on other systems. It now works on the odroid perfectly. I will be able to try a rock64 when mine finally arrives. I ordered it about a week ago and I heard it can take awhile.

Based on some issues that somebody was having on a different setup, I realized that it would be good to add to the script the ability to give the SBC a static IP in the event that the user is out in the observing field and all they have is their laptop and the pi. This way you can direct connect the ethernet cable for faster downloads and you can also direct connect in an emergency if for some reason there is an issue in the SBC's wifi settings. This functionality has saved me on numerous occasions so it should really be a part of the script. So I added a few lines for that.

Oops, I should note that I have only changed the Raspberry PI version of the script so far for the Static IP. I need to do some tests yet on my ODroid for the 64 bit version.

Got it! I made it work in the 64 bit system as well. But I had to do it a different way since the cmdline.txt file is not available on other systems.

It is very possible that if I try one of the methods folks have posted with dhcp hosted from the pi, that the method will negate the need for my addition to this script to assign a static IP in the event that routers are not available. But at least now I have a method that seems to reliably work both for the pi and for the other SBCs that should set up the static ip so they can communicate over a single ethernet cable when thats all you have and then if you connect to a router over ethernet, it still works just fine.

Yesterday I added some code to setup conky so that you can have some useful information on the right hand side of your desktop, and as I posted in the other forum, I eliminated the 2GB swap file in favor of zram which should achieve the same goal of increasing the available memory with swap without costing us the lifespan of the SD card and without taking up any of the sd card space.

Hi with regards to recent changes say in the last week or two - can you advise on the best way to apply these to mys system if I have already run the script on it about 2 weeks back? Would it be a matter of looking at the diffs in github, and trying to run these bits only, or could I just run the entire script again?

Btw a separate unrelated question, the 2nd screenshot below with the images of nebulous areas showing in KStars - how does one go about seeing these in the tool (is there a separate catalog to download etc) ?

Many thanks again for your continued work on this btw!

So, one thing you would need to do is uninstall the swap file:

sudo swapoff /swapfile (turns off the swap)
sudo rm /swapfile (removes the swapfile)
sudo pluma /etc/fstab (allows you to edit the file that starts the swap, then delete the line about the swapfile)

Beyond that, for the rest of it you could run the script again after you do a git pull, or you could just run the parts that have been added. I think everything else I have done is pretty much all additions. Also, I have tried to be careful in writing the script so that everything I write could be re-run multiple times. If it is a program installation, trying to install it again does nothing. If it is a file being saved, it doesn't hurt to resave it. And if it is a line being added to a file, I made sure that if the edit has already been done, that it doesn't do it again.

Note that I haven't updated the 64 bit script with the latest updates yet including conky and the zram features. I have to test them on my 64 bit system first. I hope to do that today.
