INDI, new in the HNSKY planetarium program

I put it on hold for the moment. It should be reasonable easy, but I don't want to develop a "suite" like Ekos. First I intend to gain some experience with the current setup. Like testing a remote operation of eqmod for INDI using a real TCP/IP link. I can imagine that in future HNSKY will show the dome position on the map and guide it (dome slaving). But will any user every use HNSKY to control there focusser and CCD camera? I doubt it. Linux is up to now not very established in astronomy. And if you spend a small fortune on astronomical equipment, I guess they will buy TheSky for a few hunderd dollars for the automation. HNSKY has to have it from hobbyist, not from the semi- professionals.

Anyhow HNSKY shows a superb live map which you can compare with the eyepc view and a fresh CCD exposure. There are so many blobs and galaxies in the sky within reach and HNSKY will help to orientate or to prepare for nightly (imaging) session. I will focus in the near future on the following:

Finish the Linux edition. (please comment)
Implement access to the coming Gaia catalog release this summer .
OS X version?

Han,
your HNSKY for LINUX has #45 in my list of astro software for Linux .
So, we have a lot of astronomical programs for Linux users.
In any case, internal INDI Control Panel will be useful for telescope configuration.

Had some thoughts about. Yes at least the dome control will be useful and integrate very well HNSKY layout/structure. I have to build automatic more tabs based on the server info. I can work with the dome simulator but it would be nice if somebody can test it live.

Thanks, I will look into it. I have a HEQ5 mount and already use eqmod for windows so this will be usefull. I also can have a look in the pascal code.

I will also soon issue a small demo INDI client with the Pascal source in the public domain. C is too cumbersome for me.

The INDI client is ready in version 3.3ß8 :cheer:

www.hnsky.org/history.htm

Maybe one minor thing to fix is that buttons are permanent and don't disappear if the driver is disconnected. The interface looks like the client in indi starter but the code was not useful for me and I started from scratch. Still 800 lines of code total for the Indi implementation.

This version 8 is tested with eqmod.
