Polar Alignment Tool Crashes Still

Hello all,

Testing the new KStars release, and found that the Polar Alignment tool still crashes, although this time I am able to reproduce this in the simulator (cloudy here, so cant test a real camera). To reproduce this error, set the CCD Simulator to 4096x3520 resolution and 3.8 pixel size. My scope is set to 530mm focal length, and 106mm of aperture.

Go through the Polar Alignment tool at 4x4 binning. You will notice that the wizard completes successfully. Now change to 1x1 binning, and you will get a SEGFAULT.

While its a bummer that I get the segfault using this resolution size at 1x1 binning, it is encouraging to see that it works fine at 4x4 binning (smaller image). The selected resolution isn't even as large as the camera I would be doing this with live (4656x3520) because the sim doesn't allow me to set it this high. Regardless of that, I expect that I would still see this crash using my live camera, as I had this issue in the previous version of KStars.

Is using 4x4 binning going to skew anything in the PA tool, or would this be fine as a workaround?

There is a PPA build in process. Try to update in one hour and re-test again. Thanks!

Good news! This works in the simulator! Hopefully I can get some clear skies to test it with my real gear but this is very promising! Thanks!

Quick check, since I have a clear night finally!! Did this fix make it into the most recent Windows build too? I installed it last night on my Tablet which I was going to use at the scope for doing PA.

Good news is, it didnt crash.

Bad news is, the files are so large that streaming them over the network is brutal to try and do the adjustments with. Is there any reason why binning 4x4 would not work correctly?

What's issue with 4x4? they're not solving? I use 4x4 all the time with my QSI

Oh no, I was asking if there would be an issue. Sounds like it would be fine to do with the PA tool. :)
