I am not one to use sudo this sudo that... I'm a root guy :woohoo:
Are there any real issues at all in running the indiserver as root?

The only issue I see is the same as for any other executable running as root. If indiserver or any subsequent process (drivers) can be exploited then the attacker might get root access. But I also need to run indiserver as root in my RPi because of the astroberry focuser driver (because the library used there needs root to access memory range). I am not very concerned that someone will attack my internal LAN. Besides that I really try to prevent root in any way.

My indiserver can only be accessed from certain IP addresses.
