Hello

I dont own a ccd but a dslr only to get images. Is it possible to do the alignment with just loading image files previously take with my dslr? Ive got the synscan mount and seems to work so far with ekos.

You can use the alignment module with your DSLR, i.e. capture and solve. Furthermore, it is possible to solve a captured image previously even if it was days before using the "Load and Slew" button. It will solve the image and then depending your selection in the GOTO section, it will either sync or slew to the target identified in the image.

Is this correct that I need only to set the "Telescope" to Synscan and "CCD" to CCD Simulator?

I just tried to load an jpg image under Ekos->Alignment->Load&Slew but it happens nothing except:
2014-09-14T17:23:38 Protocol "" is unknown
in the log window

I just build latest indilib, kstars, astrometry.net from the source. Astrometry paths are correct. Normal solving of that image works.

ok, solved by choosing "Offline Solver". Telescope slews to image coordinates.

But what does Ekos if I press the "capture&solve" button? It seems to load data from the CCD-Simulator but not from any Image file.

If you're capturing from your DSLR, you need to set the CCD driver to Canon or Nikon driver or GPHOTO, why are you using CCD simulator? Futhermore, the synscan driver is quite limited (no sync AFAIK) so you'd better use EQMod driver.

Alright I just realized that I have to build the 3rdparties directory... so I was missing all that options in the menu. Second issue is my DSLR is an damn Pentax K5 which is not (yet?) fully supported by gphoto2. I'll try to contact devs there or I will get a new DSLR which is more supported... then I'll be back.

Thanx so far

Just one more question. If the gphoto2 dev's would finish Pentax support will it be automatically supported in indi or is then necessary to do further coding in indi ?

If it is support by gphoto then it should be automatically supported by indi-gphoto driver.

So because gphoto2 pentax development seems to stall Ive got an Canon 700D. Camera is recognized.
Problem now is that the following does not work:
preview opens a black window.

console output is:
when I go to ccd/preview it says:
When I set to JPEG it crashed
system log says:my system is gentoo
kstars 2.2.0
latest indi from git (Code $Revision: 726523 $. Protocol 1su.7.)
cfitsio 3.140

to be shure my hardware is ok I installed fresh ubuntu with the bleeding-kstars and everything worked fine, including preview and raw capture

any idea?

Can you use Digikam or others apps within Gentoo to see the camera's live preview? Does it work?

Yes, it works now. Last night I was able to perform my first alignment and I was amazed how fast and precise ekos alignment works with just a few stars :). This is far better than my SynScan alignment.
Just one more question for now: How to capture color images? Or is it just not implemented?
