HI Guys
I`ve managed to download and install astrometry files from 4219 down to 4203 no probs but I keep getting error messages with file 4202 saying `It does not appear to be a valid Debian package` anyone else had problems with this one please?. I`m not sure I need to go down that far as the FOV with my guide scope is 35.33' x 27.25'.
cheers
Steve

Hi Steve,

the file 4202 is of 3.5 Gigabyte. If you are on a 32 Bit system, most propably your filesystem can't store files greater then 2 GB! Or the download was interrupted. Check the filesize on your disk first.

- it doesn't matter the 32/64-bit system type - you can store whatever file is allowing you the filesystem you are using.

Thanks for the replies guys, no I`m using a 64bit laptop running Kubuntu, 4202 is the only one of the files I have a problem with which makes me think its the file and not my laptop as everything else installs ok.

I had the same problem, Try download the files directly from the website instead and copy the files to /usr/share/astrometry...

For those who downloaded the file, can you please post the md5sum? Preferably for all the downloaded files if possible as I will compare them tomorrow against the ones generated.

I don't have problems with downloading the files. So here is the md5 sum for the big one astrometry-data-4202_0.45_all.deb: 7600bddbbc6aac4f2d2bb18797ade47f

Download was at end of November.

Hi guys
Just tried unpacking it manually and got this
steve@steve-HP-Pavilion-g6-Notebook-PC:~/Astrometry$ sudo dpkg -i astrometry-data-4202*.deb
[sudo] password for steve:

How do I get md5 sum please?

Hi Steve,

to get the md5sum just open a console window. At the prompt type:

cd <directory of deb files>
md5sum astrometry-data-4202_0.45_all.deb

and be patient!

It could maybe be a download problem. I have just tried to download astrometry-data-4202_0.45_all.deb again this morning and the download stopped at around 1,7 GB without any warning or fallure. I'm using firefox.

When trying to do
sudo dpkg -i astrometry-data-4202_0.45_all.deb
I get the same error as before - proberly because the file didn't finish download.
