I have downloaded and installed the VM 1.1 (running under VirtualBox).
At starts, the VM throws out a USB error which you can fix by disabling it in the VirtualBox config for this VM.
Once that sorted, the VM boots fine (nice background picture by the way).
Double click on Kstars and it throws out an error about the Cities.dat file missing, Kstars does not start at all.
That file is missing from the VM, done an updatedb and searched for it.
Even by adding this file manually to one of the locations mentioned in the error message it does not fix it.
Moving to an update on the VM using 'dselect' it throws the error:Which is simply fixed by doing the following as the HowTO:
However, this is where all hell breaks loose, on reboot of the VM, the desktop looks WAY different.
No background picture, no icons, and the start menu is dead.
It throws the following error:Now the even more interesting part is that even when you start a "terminal" you can't type anything, it's dead.
Any help is appreciated please.
EDIT:
I'm happy in re-installing this VM as many times as needed, not using Kstars yet as in production for my remote observatory.
Gladly help you iron out the bugs in the VM.
2nd EDIT:
I have changed the subject of this thread to repot bugs in the Ekos VM.
I am uploading v1.11 now but the upload speed is quite slow now so I'll report back once it's available for download. Thanks for reporting the issue. Unfortunately, KDE Frameworks 5 are not yet stable but I believe things will settle down once Vivid (Ubuntu 15.04) is released in a few months.

I downloaded the new version and it was imported fine and Ekos is working OK. So I guess it's a download problem. Always check md5sum against the website ones.
