Patrick, thanks for this. I do appreciate your work.
CCDciel is very nice all-in-one astro control panel. It would perfectly fit into a small device using arm cpu. I believe that lin_guider and xephem integration additionally to skychart and phd would make it even better :) They are way less demanding when it comes to resources use.
I will be looking forward to some good news from you.

Hi,

New version 0.2.0 of CCDciel is now available from sourceforge.net/projects/ccdciel/files/
The main change are:
- As indicated by Oleh a few days ago, use any SAMP capable application as the planetarium instead of only Skychart. Aladin work fine.
- Correctly support driver stopped by indi-iscd or indistarter.
- Support image compressed by the indi driver.
- New package for Mac OSX (almost untested).

There is also a new application INDIstarter intended to offer a gui interface to start a INDI server and the drivers.
From the gui you can define different equipment profiles with the required drivers and start then on the local computer or remotely using a ssh connection.
If the server is to run remotely a ssh tunnel is also established to allow access to the server by the local client software.
You can find the source code and packages for Intel Linux here:
sourceforge.net/projects/indistarter/

Thank you Patrick! It's a great thing for smaller machines.
My 7y old netbook will be happy to run it. Looking to test CCDCiel outdoor with proper data.

A small feature request: can you add a switchable reticle or/and cross hair to the preview tab ?

Patrick,
I like the compact size and relative completeness. I will be testing this application. I could not figure out what the Frame section under the capture window did?? What are the acceptable values?
Do you plan to add auto focus?
Auto focus every x frames?
This has a lot of promise... Bruce

Hi,

Sure, reticle is among the features I want to add.
Autofocus is also planned , but for now it is a hot summer with more outdoor activities than programming :)

The Frame section is related to the CCD_FRAME INDI property, something other software call ROI.
Valid values range from 0 to your CCD size.
You can use the keyboard Shift key + left mouse button to set the frame area.

Bruce,
yes, I need to upload the packages to Sourceforge.
But they are already available in the Skychart unstable repository. I just update the doc page to indicate that:

Patrick, excellent work! Thanks for sharing it!
I am presently testing it on my RPI2 and it seems to work just great!
One thing I noticed, when I installed the deb package from your repo, Skychart performed poorly on the RPI2, I then recompiled it from source and it is now way much faster.
But again, it looks extremely promising.
One question: is it possible to automatically send the "dither" command between two frames or is it only a manual operation that can be done by pressing its button?

Thank you one again and keep up the great work!

Thank you for the information. I will try the package on my RPI2.

It is planned I add a "dither" option to the Capture box and also to the Edit Plan.
This program is far than finished but I lack free time to make significant advance. But I hope for a new version before the end of the year.
