Raspberry Pi Network Monitor

I recently encountered a situation where my Raspberry Pi lost network connection to my server. I use a WIFI repeater (Netgear 6100) at my mount location and then use network cat6 cable from Raspberry Pi to the repeater. At some point during the night my network dropped. The mount of course continued tracking Andromeda throughout the night. I was planning for the session to end before midnight and when I went out the next morning my auto-focusers were jammed into my tripod legs. Ouch!

I was wondering if anyone has a process or safety feature built(coded) that would park the mount and shut everything down in the event network connection is lost.

I was thinking of building a process to do this if one doesn't exist.

There is another topic that talks about the exact same thing:

I think a server-side watch dog needs to be developed for safety purposes.
