I am almost done with my home observatory (Ikarus Observatory) and it is already working on Raspberry PI 2 and powered USB hub.
Of course the observatory is going to be a nice test bed for several equipment that I own. For example, I discovered guiding with ZWO ASI was not reliable and it returns an error after a minute or two (already contacted ZWO); similar issue with my QHY5LII. Everything else is working as expected, including my Lodestar & QSI CCDs.
EDIT: Ok Gerry informed me that QHY5 acts funny even with powered USB hub especially that the same hub powers 6 devices.
Congratulations from my side as well!
(Looks like You have proceeded much faster than I did since our contact in August!)
Then, looking at the smooth operation of Your lightweight roof I guess You don't have to handle heavy rainstorms and loads of snow in Kuweit!
... PS: I only fear we could loose a fantastic maintainer once everything is working!
In that case we others should supply Jasem with an akwardly heavy 14" Newtonian that would require completely new hardware to get him back!
Congratulations! Some nice roof action there
I'm still ironing out some bugs in my electric-hoist-powered roll off but its almost there....
Slightly off topic but it looks like you are using security cameras with IR 'night vision' LEDs. Would these interfere with image capture?
I have an IP camera with night vision but I was worried the CCD would pickup the IR even through a filter.
I see you are using the "Digital Loggers Din Relay" which is one I'd like to get for my observatory. What do you really think of it please? Any issues with it?
No it's working OK. But I damaged one of the connectors (my fault), I connected AC unit to it which was 15A while the current ratings for the relay is 10A. But the rest is working great, and it's you can use simple commands to control it over the web.
Regarding the "Digital Loggers Din Relay", do you have a special driver for it or just use bash scripts to operate it?
I'm re-designing my remote observatory and will probably use this relay to control the roof and other bits.
