Maybe someone has a simple answer, but when I plug in my HiTec EQDir USB cable directly into the port of my Raspberry Pi2, it gets recognized and is accessible using ttyusb0. However, when I put it into my USB hub, it's suddenly not there. Is there a simple solution for this?
Looking at dmesg it seems the device is not accepting any address via the USB hub. I do have a USB3 hub, would that interfere?
It is a powered hub yes, it does seem though that the USB3 hub is the problem. The Pi isn't compatible with a lot of them due to a bug in a lot of usb3 hubs. I will have to get a USB2 one, but a lot of those seem to be rather crappy to begin with.
I have found
- My mount cable (Hi tech Astro EQDIR) pl203, definitely prefers pi to hub.
- moonlight cable ( moonlight box has FTDI inside) also seems to prefer to be plugged into my pi rather than the crappy powered USB 2 hub I use.
Both have serial converters so that may be a clue.
- My QHY5 II M prefers the hub. Maybe it needs the power.
- Another camera does not mind ( it has its own power cable )
It is annoying but at least it works if you connect them the way they like.
Can anyone recommend a more reliable USB hub?
