Indeed the nexstarevo is a celestron counterpart to eqmod. Unfortunately it is not as mature as eqmod. I have recently released a new version (0.3) with better tracking, stability and few smaller additions. Right now it is limited to NS Evolution (Alt-Az) scopes and other scopes with wifi interface (skyfi). It was never tested by me with equatorial mount but in principle it should work (thanks to indi alignment subsystem). The serial interface is not implemented yet but it should be possible to implement it with just modest effort - I plan to do it but it is not my priority right now.
Long story short - you will be better off using standard celestron driver.
