Still no luck.
After a succesfull slew I press park. I hear a beep, but nothing happens and see "error" in the mount control.

It says right there error slewing. Your parking position (Alt = 0 Az = 0) is invalid as the mount sees it "below the horizon". Slew first to your parking position, then go to INDI control panel --> Site settings --> click "Current" to use current location.

I'll add an easier way to do it from the sky map in the next release.

Ok, it's done now and will be available in the next release 2.9.0

This will make it easier for folks to set the parking position instead of manually going to INDI Control Panel after a slew to set it.

Now I understand.. the park position wasn't set before using the park command..
According the documentation the 8407HC does only have two parking options depending on the side of pier it is at the moment of calling the park command. That's why I don't understand why it's possible to set a custom parking position (which is great and I need to test actually). How can I see release 2.9.0 is released?

Would it be possible to add a function for returning the mount to the home position (aka zero position) as well and the side of pier it is?

Hi Jasem,

When does version 2.9.0 will be released and were can I see this version numbers and release notes / announcements?

I tried again by setting a parking position before pressing the park button.
It doesn't give an error and slews to the park position. But instead of parking the mount it starts tracking.

Are you really sure you are using the correct commands? The commands in the documentation from iOptron are different.
Next to this it would be really great if it will have a home position option so it can slew to sero positions again.

attached the logs of the actions I did.

Thnx Chris.

How are they different? After the mount moves to the parking position, :MP1# is sent to set it as parked. If you know of the correct command to use, please let me know. You can download KStars from edu.kde.org

Current used commands fore parking:

See the correct parking commands below according the documentation:

Command: “:MP1#”
Response: “1”
This command invokes the parked mode. In parked mode, the telescope cannot slew, track, and
guide unless a un-park command is issued.
Caution: Any movement caused by hand controller will make the telescope into un-park state.

Command: “:AP#”
Response: “0” Un-parking state, “1” Parking state.
This command gets the parking status.

Command: “:MP0#”
Response: “1”
This command un-parks the telescope.

In front of the park and unpark button I would like to see a “Go To Home” button and a status if the mount is at home.
Command: “:MH#”
Respond: “1”
This command will slew to the “home” position immediately .
Command: “:AH#”
Respond: “0” The telescope is not at “home” position,
Respond: “1” The telescope is at “home” position.
This command returns whether the telescope is at “home” position

Nope, please check the log carefully again. The one you quoted above was never used for parking, but for regular slewing. Check for "Parking is in progress..." and follow it from there.

"Home" button is already in INDI Control Panel.

Checked again. It slews to the parking position but starts tracking from there again instead of entering parkmode.
I attached the log file.

Home button is there indeed, great! Is it possbile to place in the mount tab as well?
