eqmod crashes after update

Hi jpaana, yes i tried that. Still no luck. The mount was working perfectly over the weekend. Did an update last night and eqmod went crazy. It is weird that it does not know my location even though my default location is showing. Eqmod thinks im im in the northern hemisphere even though my coordinates are correct. The other weird thing was i parked the scope and it started slewing for over a minute until it was pointing at polaris in kstars.

Hi all, so after a completely new install, the problem seems to have been fixed. But after i completed a session and parked the scope it did not park itself properly. But i can live with that for now.

Hi all, after the stable update via the PPA im having problems connecting to EQmod. Im running Ubuntu 16.04LTS. i updated as recommended. I even ininstalled kstars/indi, and reinstalled and still have the same issue. The connection is via shoestring BT adapter. I had no issues connecting, slewing etc prior to the update. Another thing i noticed is that indi_eqmod_telescope seems to freeze and holds one of my cpu cores on full tilt and then ubuntu crashes. See images below.

see device manager log log.

I've found issues with a program called modemmanager. Try removing it
sudo apt-get remove modemmanager

Check the spelling, in your comment, you wrote modemmanger. It should be modemmanager.

Hi Ihoujin, i checked the spelling and tried gain. It was never installed.

So i tried connecting again this morning and everything now seems to work. This is very odd as i did nothing to the install.

Looks like the whole thing just needed a good nights sleep :-).

I'll try again this afternoon after work and see if everything still works and report if i encounter any issues.

Thanks for your help.

Ahh the good ol' turn it off and on again. ;)
It's bizarre, but sometimes a reboot or two are required. Glad everything worked out for you. Going Bluetooth is definitely worthwhile to eliminate unnecessary cables and chance for loose contacts. Enjoy.

Yep, reboot does wonders.

My setup is completely wireless. EQmod and home made moonlite focuser connecting directly to my laptop via BT which runs kstars/ekos. My rpi3 runs indiserver and has gphoto (canon dslr) and zwo guider attached. It talks to my laptop via wifi hotspot. The whole setup is cable free.

The only cable coming out of my laptop is power supply. Its definitely the way to go.

Thanks for your help Ihoujin

This is a note to myself for next time this happens.

Upon starting KStars and then Ekos and then INDI, if the EQMod driver crashes, the most likely issue is the ParkData.xml file is corrupt. To fix, just delete the ParkData.xml. It is located here: /home/<Device name>/.indi/

Then restart KStars, then Ekos and then INDI and all should be good.

I had a similar experience recently and, indeed, removing the ParkData.xml file solved the issue.

The same thing applies for the Celestron driver - I had the indi_celestron_gps driver crashing on start-up and deleting the ParkData.xml file fixed it for me.
