iOptron Zeq25 was created by lock

Hello everybody.

I have an iOptron Zeq25 mount.
I compiled libindi-1.0.0 and installed openPHD 1 on my Debian Jessie. I try to detect my mount bu I can't. I also try to use Kstars but I have the same issue.
I exactly have the message
Error connecting to port /dev/ttyUSB0. Make sure you have BOTH read and write permission to the port
but I added $USER to the group dialout.
I'm not sure about which Telescope model I must choose because I have not my model in the list. I chose LX200 Basic.
I plug my mount as following :
I have a RS232 wire plug on my Hand Controller and a adaptor RS232/USB on the other side. The all setup is then plugged on my USB port.

Could you please help me, I'm totally lost.
Best regards,

lock

After adding $USER to dialout group it is necessary to logout and login back. Have you done that?

Yes, I've even restarted the computer ....

By the way if my mount isn't plugged I also have the same message in KStars :
Error connecting to port /dev/ttyUSB0. Make sure you have BOTH read and write permission to the port

LX200 Basic would be the correct driver for your instance, there is a new iEQ driver, but it only supports iEQPro/CEM60. Make sure /dev/ttyUSB0 is indeed the port, type dmesg to find which port it assigned.

OK, I'll check that next time, Thank you.
By the way, I was wondering if I have the right wire. Is the USB / RS232 the good stuff I need to use as an adaptor ?
Following www.ioptron.com/images/up/ZEQ25_Manual.pdf page 8, I would say yes but maybe I missed something

hello there,
this is my first post. I'm not just a new member, I'm a newbie to Linux and INDI.
I have INDI installed on an RPi2 with Kstars/EKOS
My mount is an Ioptron CEM25 which is very similar to the ZEQ125 but not the same I know.
I have been experimenting with the different Ioptron drivers in INDI.
It seems that the CEM60 driver works best, but I can't get RA/DEC info from the mount.
I can connect to the mount, and I can move the scope N/S/E/W with the EKOS Motion keypad.
1. Is it reasonable to think that I should if the driver is not actually designed for the mount I am using?
2. Is there any way around this to get it to work?
3. What can I provide to help answer these questions?

Ioptron Mounts now have a
 CEM60/CEM60-EC, with firmware version
151016 and later
 iEQ30 Pro/iEQ45 Pro/iEQ45 Pro AZ, with
firmware version 151016 and later
 CEM25/CEM25-EC with 8408 hand
controller firmware 151020 and later

thanks very much
Malcolm

Do you know the RS232 command set used for your mount?

The document does not mention that it supports CEM25 or ZEQ25 but other mounts (IEQPro and CEM60). I think you can use LX200 Basic driver with CEM25 and ZEQ25

I just talk with an engineer from ioptron and he said that CEM25 use the same protocol.
Last edit: 7 years 11 months ago by max. Reason: ZEQ25 use different protocol

If it is then it should work with the current driver. Turn complete debug/logging to file on to diagnose any issues
