Advanced Framing. Musings.

I was considering an idea to assist with framing images. I propose a new form of symbol, similar to an FOV symbol, it too should represent the field of view of a camera. Give this symbol the ability to be placed at any location in the sky and set a rotation. To make use of it, I propose making it an object that can be slewed to and tracked via the right-click menu. Also it's proper location could be copyable into EKos scheduler via a single button. And the set rotation could be compared to astrometry results until they match to the user's satisfaction.

This idea occurred to me while trying to frame parts of the Markarian Chain by roughly aligning the FOV symbol and changing its rotation. Would anybody else find this useful?

I think I understand the gist of your idea, but how can you do that without a rotator?

I would just rotate the camera manually and do a new solve until the rotation comes close to what I'm looking for.
