Hello - I am wondering if anyone has successfully done this - Use Ekos to coordinate both TSX and PHD2 through the TSX server?

Thank you for your input

Ok, will do.

Can you please link me to a 'getting started from scratch on the Mac' document or tutorial?

Thanks for your help

Thank you again - I am definitely going to try this one way or the other. I was looking at the Paramount INDI driver page and it says this:

This INDI paramount driver interacts with Paramount mounts via TheSkyX TCP Server either locally on the same computer or across a network connection. Bisque does not permit a direct control of the mount and so TheSkyX must be started and configured first. To connect to TSX, the TCP server needs to be enabled. In TSX go to Tools->TCP Server. A pop up window will open. Click the check box Listening For Connections. This option will stay enabled and persist across TSX restarts.

When running on the same computer as TSX, connect to the loopback address of your computer (127.0.0.1). If TSX is on a separate computer, obtain the IP address of the TSX server. The port should be 3040 by default.

Doesn't this suggest that what I am asking about is possible? Is seems that KStars, etc will, in fact, use TSX to run the mount - which is exactly what I want. Am I wrong?

Thanks!
Mike

So Mike, the upshot is that I would try either running PHD2 on your Mac or on a Raspberry Pi, connect that to your guider and to your SX-AO. I would recommend using the ST-4 jack in the guide camera for guiding not INDI mount. You can make the "Aux Mount" your INDI connected mount. I would connect your imager and your telescope to your INDIServer running on either your Raspberry Pi or your Mac. Then finally connect your favorite INDI client to the INDIServer. I usually use KStars for that. I think it should work well assuming PHD2 has good AO support. Does that all make sense?

Thanks,

Rob

Yes, that is very helpful - thank you to you both! So, I had also asked about being able to use TSX to run my mount so that I got the benefit of PEC and ProTrack and DirectGuide - Can INDI talk to TSX? Or is that not going to happen?

Hello. I am VERY excited to start using the INDI system. Can someone please tell me if this is possible: I want to use an SX-AO, with dithering, on the Mac with TSX running the mount. Currently, TSX does not have SX-AO support. Alternatively, something else can run the mount, but there are benefits to using TSX if possible. I know I can do this on the PC with SGP, TSX and PHD2 talking to each other - are we there yet with INDI?

Any and all help and/or input is greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Mike

Peter

I'm sorry, I made a not-smart error. The Terminal code you supplied earlier did work to identify the Moonlite and, when coped and pasted into INDI Control panel, I was able to successfully connect and control the focuser. Most excellent!

Are you aware of any autofocus routines that interface with Astroimager? Or maybe this is coming soon?

Thanks so much for your help.

Hmmm...

When I run that command, I get:
/dev/cu.Bluetooth-Incoming-Port

the command line looks like:
Drmikes-Mac:~ me$ ls -1 /dev/cu.*

It does not matter if I plug in or unplug the focuser - nothing changes.

Peter - thank you. I think you helped me once before with a driver for my SX-814, which works great, but the way. Your program, for that camera, can do things that Neb4 can not. For some reason, Neb4 can not take exposures in the 1s or less range - it just comes out blank. This is annoying. But, Astroimager can take any length exposure no problem. Just FYI. This is a known issue with Neb4.

Anyway, I am not using anything in between the Moonlite controller and the computer, just a USB cord. When I try to connect using INDI Control Panel, the port selected is the default, /dev/ttyUSB0. The error message when trying to connect is: "Moonlite: failed to connect to port /dev/ttyUSB0. Error: Port failure:No such file or directory. Check if device is connected to this port."

I have been using Macs since, literally, the first Macintosh 128k. I owned one at age 13. I'm currently on my 17th Mac. This is the first time I have ever had a port I/O issue. I thought it was only a PC thing. Please - let me know what to do. I guess I first need to determine the port that the Moonlite is coming in on?

Thanks for your help (again)
Mike

Hello - very happy to be setting up astro-imaging on my Mac. I'm trying to get my Moonlite focuser and CGEM-DX connected through the INDI control panel (Cloudmakers) but can't get past the port issues. For the Moonlite, it says 'No such file' and for the Nexstar it says 'Error connecting...Make sure to have BOTH, etc..' I know this is mentioned in the FAQ, but when running the sudo script, Terminal tells me that 'command cannot be found'.

Is there a guide to getting things setup on a Mac? I'm not sure if I need to install the Moonlite driver, or if Cloudmakers did that for me. I'm not sure why the mount comes up as Celestron GPS instead of Celestron Nexstar, which is what the INDI Server says. The INDI server has 'green lights' for both Moonlite and Celestron Nexstar. I'm using the latest version of all Cloudmakers apps and OS X 10.11.3

I apologize for the very newbie question - I'm sure there are some simple answers, I just can't find them.
Thanks
Mike
