After uninstalling indiweb (sudi pip uninstall indiweb) and re-installing using sudo the indiweb script was found as you said in /usr/local/bin
I modified the startup script to suit my user and we are now working.
Many thanks.

Is there to be any response to this. I still have a serviceable Pi but cannot start indiwebserver unless I login and do it manually.

All forum posts & tutorials read but they conflict and do not seem to be up to date.

Regards.

Retried install and reports already satisfied with .local/bin as install location.

Concerned to modify .service file as it will be different to documentation and will cause confusion at a later stage. Can I ask why the installation location is different than the one expected. It would also be useful (For newbies) to document the expected location post successful install, as I was lost.

Also if I am using the root .service file as opposed to the user .service file what are the differences. I understand running as root could be a security issue, but beyond that what is recommended.

Thanks

Same results as jnowat.

Have tried both .service files, root, & user with same results.

Did notice a posting about some changes recently to this service as 'improvements'.

I am trying to setup a remote Indi server on a Pi3. Following the various tutorials, none of which are consistent, I have got to the point of trying to autostart the Indiwebmanager. I have followed the details as they are on github but the autostart will not work. I have tried both .service files with similar results.
The indiwebservermanager can be started locally and works from a remote client, but I need it to autostart so the pi can be unmanaged.

I get the following:

mate@AstroPi:~$ sudo systemctl status indiwebmanager.service
[sudo] password for mate:
● indiwebmanager.service - INDI Web Manager
Loaded: loaded (/etc/systemd/system/indiwebmanager.service; enabled; vendor p
Active: activating (auto-restart) (Result: exit-code) since Fri 2017-09-08 16
Process: 1900 ExecStart=/usr/local/bin/indi-web -v (code=exited, status=203/EX
Main PID: 1900 (code=exited, status=203/EXEC)

Sep 08 16:11:42 AstroPi systemd[1]: indiwebmanager.service: Main process exited,
Sep 08 16:11:42 AstroPi systemd[1]: indiwebmanager.service: Unit entered failed
Sep 08 16:11:42 AstroPi systemd[1]: indiwebmanager.service: Failed with result '
lines 1-9/9 (END)

Many thanks.

I'm following tutorial 169-ekos-on-raspberry-pi-complete-guide.html and after adding the ppa I cannot get kstars or gsc to install. Ubuntu reports as follows:

mate@DietPi:~$ sudo apt-get install indi-full kstars-bleeding
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
E: Unable to locate package kstars-bleeding
mate@DietPi:~$

Thanks for any assistance.

I feel my job is done here in that my intention was to get the users involved that could take this idea forward. If you have watched the full video you will have seen that it is possible to track using a indoor surface. It is this that made me feel this approach to guiding should be investigated. I do hope this is implemented as it would result in many cases only requiring one camera to both guide and take images.
I will monitor with interest.

Hi.

I subscribe to The Astro Imaging Channel that does a braodcast each week on imaging topics. A recent one that i thought was very engaging in that it was a presentation on Image Autoguiding by Robert Majewski. It became apparent that this approach has many advantages and as the presenter was looking for a development partner as he has developed this on Mac and was looking to Windows as a next step.

I felt that this may well be of interest to the developers of EKOS/Indi as I am not a dev.

The Youtube presentation is here and Robert does give a contact email during the talk. youtu.be/_rc1K72sCZs

Hi,

Many thanks for the debug guidance. I will use this as best I can in future.

On this failure though I have established that it was the selection of Nikon DSLR driver that was causing the crash. If I use the Gphoto driver then the crash does not occur. Confused why there should be a Nikon Driver as it seems (According to forum posts) Gphoto is used in all DSLR cases.

Clive Davies replied to the topic 'Local storage on RPi2 not working' in the forum. 1 year ago

Hi,

Following this thread as I am having issues with the Gphoto driver as well on a remote Rpi running Mate. Reinstalled complete from PPA on both Client (Mate) and Rpi. I can connect to the DSLR (Nikon D50) and take one exposure from either Ekos or Control Panel and download happens and displays. Second attempt causes following in log:

2016-10-08T13:34:20: Exposure failed to save image... Directory not found
2016-10-08T13:34:20: Error downloading image from camera: Directory not found

If second attempt is from Ekos it just loops and from control panel just tries once. If I disconnect device and reconnect I can take a single shot again.
I have set to Client, Local and Both and all the same. Save directory is default /Home/UserName.

Do appreciate Nikon D50 is old now and remote control is limited, but Indi seems to work most functions fine. Would really like to guidance on how to see detailed logs both at server and client end to assist with fault finding.

Regards.
