Update broke QHY

I installed Astroberry on a new Pi4.  I created a profile for my rig, and everything connected.  So I ran apt update/upgrade, and now the QHY camera no longer connects.  The lsusb shows it its connected, but even the qhy_ccd_test doesn't see it.  Any ideas?

I second that, sort of. This happened to me too yesterday--I was "downgrading" my Ubuntu from 21.04 to 20.04 LTS (long story, see indilib.org/forum/general/10693-ubuntu-2...-10-rpi-warning.html) and when I re-installed, I had the very same QHY issue. I even used qhy_ccd_test as you did.  I tried several things, e.g. using old qhy libraries (see indilib.org/forum/general/8586-qhy-issues.html#65625, but it turned out these were raspbian32 and my system is ubuntu64) playing with udev, and wasn't getting anywhere, and then, all of a sudden things worked, and I couldn't tell why.

Sorry, I know that's a very unsatisfying answer. Likely that I did do something that changed things, and I was trying to be careful and note what I changed, but...

In any event, my biggest suspect is the qhy drivers.

Here are the drivers I'm currently using on my RPi4 Ubuntu 20.04

and here are the ones I'm using on my Intel NUC Ubuntu 20.04

I could post either somewhere if yours are different and you want to experiment.
Both work well with qhy_ccd_test and Indi.

Replied by Thomas Mason on topic Update broke QHY

Since the current release on QHY SDK page is 21.10.12 vs 21.10.26 with indilib 1.9.3 I tried installing that - didn't help. Also since installing 1.9.3 the new kstars 3.5.6 also updated again QHY and ASI drivers not working.

Log file attached.  It looks like it isn't possible to rollback to 1.9.2 easily since only 1.9.3 is available in the ppa for ubuntu 20.04?

I have maybe a similar issue. I’m running Kstars 3.5.6 (stable) with indilib 1.9.3 (compiled from source just two hours ago) on Ubuntu 21.04. I just bought a QHY5L II C guide camera and want to test. Kstars has no problem in seeing the camera but if I move to live view I got the message indi_qhy_ccd crashed. The same thing happens after taking one 1s shot. I then tried with test_ccd_qhy but got segmentation fault, while if I run test_video_qhy I got no error.

Suggestions?

Here what I got from qhy_ccd_test

as far as what was updated… a bunch - qhyccd and asiccd for sure but when I updated almost all the drivers seemed to be renewed.

I should have been more clear. With the various distro’s, version numbers can be hard to track. The versions of the various pieces worked with the last official release of Astroberry. Any upgrades do not.

I’ve now just installed the new Raspbian OS, and am building KStars and related components from source. The behavior is the same. The current head version of libqhy & indi_qhy still exhibit this behavior. I can see the camera is on the USB bus, but is not detected. And neither of these components have been updated in the last two weeks.

Tomorrow I’ll dig into the source to see if I can figure out what is happening.

Out of curiosity... This thread is in Astroberry subforum, so where did you guys get INDI 1.9.3 from? I have not released it for Astroberry.

I started with the Astroberry 2.0.3 image. This worked until I did the apt upgrade. The first upgrade broke eqmod, ZWO camera, and QHY camera (missing symbol crashes). Subsequent apt upgrades resolved the issues of missing symbols. But the QHY was still not detected.

So I installed github.com/JerryBlack/buildKstarsNightlyFromGit which builds from git repo’s. So I not installing specific versions.

But, I now know the issue isn’t Astroberry specific. So the thread should either be moved or closed here an restarted elsewhere.
