I installed astroberry. I like it - I REALLY like the 4 pages we can fill and switch between.
I have asked a lot of questions and answered most myself with some google work... but.

This one has me puzzled and all the googling I've done to figure it out hasn't helped.

When I installed LIME on my PC - it took off and connected to my home network etc. All is well, updates are easy before it is online.

HOWEVER - I installed Astroberry on the PI. The PI is new and new to me, It seems to be set up as a hot spot? I can connect to it with my ipad. However I can not update or access anything online? I'd like it to do both. But if I had to do one, I guess the net and network login is the better choice. (Unless I want it as a stand alone portable computer for my astro setup. (not sure about that yet).

The google "how to's" I've found assume another version/wrapper is being used and they're not really aware of what Astroberry is or what it has or has not installed or is configured?

How can I connect to my home router/network with the pi?

One of two different ways. One is to click on the WiFi icon near the upper right of the screen, enter your admin password (default is 'astroberry'), enter your router name and password, then reboot. The second and the method given on the Astroberry site is to type 'wlanconf' in a the Mate Terminal, and enter your router info. Mate terminal is located Applications -> System Tools -> Mate Terminal. Most of the time, I just use the first method.

Thank you - I had tried this before. Doing it again

It says configuration for this network already exists. (I think Something had me nano it directly into the conf file).
I right click on desktop and click open terminal (that the same as mate terminal?) Still not sure it it's working.
I can do a reboot terminal command and it should connect? going to try it.

no... I see the wifi icon but it's gray. When I click it on it asks for router and pw. I've entered it a dozen times. (that conf file is getting full of a lot of repeat info).
I have a 5G and 2G - I tried both - neither seems to connect. Does it take them in a order listed in the conf file? Maybe it's connecting to a previous entry?

I've tried both before - and tried again and...

nope - I have 3 lwanconfig files? none appear altered.
I have a wpa_supplicant.conf file - and that is updated with my network info. (MANY TIMES repeating since I've tried this many times).
Is theer a 2G / 5G limitation? I've tried both?

I also went in and edited the file and make sure my router and pw were listed first. (no help) does something have to switch it from hot spot to client? It's broadcasting its SSID?

Yes, take a look at the Astroberry Site. Typing 'sudo astroberry_vap stop' into the terminal will stop the virtual access point. I usually configure the Astroberry network settings with the Raspi hooked up to a monitor, keyboard, and mouse, and nothing connected to the VAP.

ah stopped AP - hoping (rebooting).... brb
I take it you can't have both? Someone connected to the accesspoint and the network connected too?

rebooted - nothing yet.

So I entered the router and login again and Again it says as superuser... configuration for this network already exsits (yeah like 10 times).
doesn't connect! ? I'm wondering if I should take the SD drive and reinstall astro berry fresh - as mine isn't like the one in the demo video!

AStroberry site (was me asking for the link) google revealed nothing.

I'm about to try and reflash the card to start fresh. I find some things FRUSTRATING. I download the .XZ file. I unpack it with archieve manager.
Well I click - unpack - and it says one file remaining. (the .iso is one file) but the progress bar never moves. So I think it's crashed. But I think it just takes a long time. In the intro video he makes it look all easy and logical.

gonna start fresh, I prolly hosed some files but I do like that I updated the username and my pw. As I hate typing in long usernames and passwords over and over.
Validating - then reboot and crossing my fingers.

So do you have a link to teh astroberry page? (or are you referring to its github page?)

There we go! oddly mozilla crashed out of the box, but I am updating so it is connected to the net. Thanks for the assistance. Must have been something I did as a noob.

Good deal. I was referring to the Astroberry Github page.

BTW, Mozilla not working is a known issue.
