NOVnc Web access lost after update

I imaged my new Raspberry Pi 4 with the Astroberry image and ran the update and upgrade commands. After doing this I couldn't connect to the unit on my local network or using the webservice. I connected to the Astroberry hotspot and checked the network connection and it was fine. I changed something, saved and rebooted and that brought back the network connection but still can't get the web service to run (novnc) by running astroberry.local.desktop. I have tried restarting the novnc service but that hasn't helped. Any ideas?

Thanks

Welcome to Astroberry Server world ;-)
First, it should be astroberry.local/desktop - make sure it is not a typo on your side
Second, try connecting via VNC to make sure that the system is up an running
Third, please provide info on what is your browser saying when you try opening astroberry.local

I can VNC in just fine with either the hotspot or my wifi connection. The url is as you say astroberry.local/desktop/ and the message that comes back is as follows;

404 Not Found
nginx/1.14.2

With some guidance I was able to try restarting and checking the status of the following services.

sudo systemctl status nginx.service
sudo systemctl status novnc.service
sudo systemctl status indiwebmanager.service
sudo systemctl status gpspanel.service
sudo systemctl status astropanel.service

The status reported that the services were inactive/dead. I tried to restart and looked at the logs for the error messages given when I did the following

sudo systemctl restart [service] for the 5 above

The Indiwebmanager showed the directory was missing so was asked to run the following to reinstall missing packages

sudo apt install astroberry-full

I got the following message

E: dpkg was interrupted, you must manually run 'sudo dpkg --configure -a' to correct the problem

This indicated the upgrade was not complete/successful so I ran the command above and all processes finished and I rebooted.

The web access worked as did the Indipanel and GPS etc so I'm good to go.

FYI - I just had this same issue:

Brand new RPI 3+
Brand new SD card image
Updated/ upgraded and then got the 404 error page on the desktop

Tried the above command and it ended with:
Setting up indi-sbig (2.1-3) xxx
Processing triggers for ...
...
Processing triggers for initramfs-tools (0.133+deb10u1) ...
Errors were encountered while processing:
libraspberrypi0
libraspberrypi-doc
libraspberrypi-bin
libraspberrypi-doc
rpi-eeprom

did a restart and the web based interface worked... just like jdain said it would!

Thanks for asking/ solving this issue so quickly...
