Nikon Z6 RAW capture issue

Hello everyone!

I've been using INDI with Astroberry with my D5300 and ASI1600mm Pro. I've recently bought a Z6 mirrorless camera, and tried to control it via Astroberry.

Unfortunately, when I take pictures with Ekos, a major problem occurs.

When I select RAW and native or FITS, the downloaded image shows up like this:
1) NEF

2) FITS

But when I use TIFF, everything seems okay.
3) TIFF

If I could solve my TIFFs, I would have just used it. But it seems I can't.

Is there anyone who have encountered and solved this problem? Or is there a setting I've missed?
Plz help!

If you capture a sequence so images are saved to disk and then open up in another software, how do they look?

Thanks for the quick reply!

When I see the captured images via camera, they seem fine.
Also, the images are opened without a problem in DSS

However, in an article on the site below, a similar problem seems to be happening when opening the .nef file with PixInsight.

So the .nef might have some compatibility issues, but shouldn't the FITS file have no problems then?

Hi, This may not be relevant to your issue, but for me when I capture in RAW and save in .FITS with my Z7, I have no problems (this has worked for me for a few years now).

Doesn't appear to be an issue in your screen captures, but check to make sure that the max width and max height of the camera in the driver are correct. Occasionally when starting from scratch indi seems to pick up the max screen size (which is beyond the normal capture frame size) as what it thinks the values should be (for the Z7 the normal values are 8256 x 5504).

Thanks for your suggestion, but it seems that that wasn't the solution.

I tried using Stellarmate this time, and just like you, there isn't a problem!

I think the recent Astroberry version has problems with the Z6 RAW files

I read somewhere that there’s a new raw library in the latest ubuntu thats not in the version that astroberry is currently based on. This seemed to mean newer raw file versions weren’t supported. Sorry I cannot be more specific, it was a couple of days ago I read it.

Thanks for sharing that! I guess I'll just have to stick with my outdated Stellarmate for a while.
