Not that I'm aware of but I haven't tried for a while as life got in the way and there haven't been many clear nights recently.

Still no progress with this?

I've just done a full upgrade again and I'm still getting the same problem. When I set the shutter device to /dev/ttyUSB1 as soon as I connect it changes to USB0 and then won't control the shutter release relay.

I'm on the nightly build but it still shows gphoto2 as version 2.5.9

I have built a driver that enables me to use my Sony A57 (no remote/usb) in combination with a FTDI bulb cable and a FlashAir WiFi card. This driver is very easily modified for your camera. Actually, since the D5100 and A57 have the same sensor, I think you just need to delete the FlashAir components.

This driver lets me auto focus and frame on a DSLR with no usb tether capabilities. It is still a work in progress, but you are welcome to try it

If you wait a week, I will make it more generic, with FlashAir being optional.

Just wanted to say my D5100 w/relay works just fine using gphoto. This is with Astroberry, if it matters.

Great! Thanks for this! I'll give it another go this week. I'm on a D5000 rather than the D5100 but it shouldn't be too different... I'm using Kstars rather than gphoto but it is the gphoto Nikon ccd driver that kstars uses. I'm using the KM tronic relay for the shutter release though so hopefully your driver will work :)

Thanks again. I'll report back once I've tested it :)

I am using Nikon D5100, with a homemade shutter control cable based on the ch-340 chip. Long shutter speeds work, lifewiev does not work. If you use a usb connection, everything works, aging is not more than 30 seconds. What could be the reason?

It's still in early development, and very specific to my setup (I have hardcoded folder names); I have yet to test it under fire. I can see it is useful to many people so I will keep working on it over the next few weeks. I recommend you wait a week or two. If you really want to crash EKOS, try this:

indiserver -v -p 8000 indi_sony_a57

Then in EKOS set it to remote: localhost port: 8000

I will put specific instructions in GutHub soon.

are there any settings that i need to change to get this to work?
i can fire the relay via cmd prompt so it works in raspbian but when i start the ekos server it takes control of the camera and i get no response just the normal 30 second max time shutter the relay doesnt fire.
i have the \dev\ttyUSB0 set in the camera settings but cannot see anything else?
i am also on astroberry
thanks

You will need to recompile it after having modified any appropriate paths in the cpp file. I have been using this for 6 months now, it works well as a fully integrated ekos solution for DSLRs without USB remote support (Like my Sony A57). It is a pain to get everything setup though - You need to recompile if you update stellarmate. You'll need a wifi router as the the FlashAir card has a weak signal.

Ok I appear to now have this working (to a fashion)
i have not done any recompiling but if you uncheck the auto start feature and then add the line /dev/ttyUSB0 to the setup and then connect to the camera the remote shutter will work.
i will do some more testing on this to see if anything else gets compromised.
