Hi guys,
it so strange but since today my working setup failed, but constantly.
I User StellarMate and CGEM DX Mount, MoonLite CHL focuses, Celestron Edge Hd 800 SCT, ZWO EFW coupled to ZWO ASI 1600 MC PRO. For guiding I use a OAG from ZWO with a ZWO MINIcam.
All equipment is connected by USB to the STELLARMATE RPi.
I’m running KStars in order to control all this. So far so good.
But tonight, the first clear skies since many weeks, I could not connect to both cameras. Many attempts with lots of troubleshooting efforts brought nothing.
A direct connection to sharpcap gave good results for both cameras. I could work with both. Also SGP worked well.
I am not sure but I’ll provide this infos, yesterday I upgraded to 3.3.9 and many updates happened to WIN 8.1.
I reversed back to 3.3.8 but no luck, still no connection. The web manager connected well but the Win client could not get a connection. BTW, in the INDI Display the camera tabs showed a yellow connection light, no red nor green over long time.
So, what is wrong? How to fix that? I’m confused.
Thank you in advance for any hint or help

Bye Gunter

Did you make sure that KStars is the same version on both Windows and the RPi?

If you connect each camera separately (i.e. one at time), can KStars connect to one of them? If only one of them is showing up, there is some sort of USB issue. Maybe power related? on RPI4 this also be a kernel issue which is resolved with the upcoming v1.4.7 but it's unlikely this is your issue.

1. Check power (3A+ power supply)
2. Connect one camera at a time and test.
3. Do not use any hubs in between.
4. Remove all other equipment from StellarMate and check if a particular ones creates the conflict, if any.

No, I will check on that. But with KStars 3.38 it worked before. Yesterday I went back to this Version but no success.

Thanks Gunter

Hi Knro,

the power supply for the RPi3 comes from a 12V power (230V) adapter through a 12-to-5V converter and has plenty of amps. I do not use any USB hubs.
Today I will setup my RPi4B as a stellarmate computer and try again. Later I will post my experiencec to this board.

I have never had any problems with the camera untill two days ago. I have tried different versions of Kstars from 3.3.6 but it behaves just like you described it. It works with ASICAP though so theres is nothing wrong with the camera.

I use two ASI cameras (120MC-S and 1600MM-C) at the same time on KStars 3.3.9 and do not have any problems at all. Last time I tried was on Saturday night (5 days ago). I use a Minisforum mini-pc with USB3 ports.

Hi agaIn,

I ran Kstars 3.3.8 on a WINDOWS 8.1 laptop and have the stellarmate RPi3 remotly connected by WiFi network. A day before I experienced this problem I had numerous shutdowns and restarts of Windows because of updates. What Windows do you run guys?
