Using the new Raspberry HQ cam?

Hi,

I am trying to use the new Raspberry Pi HQ Cam. I can access it using the V4l2 INDI driver, but I cannot set it beyond 640 x 480 pixels, the server just shuts down when I try an exposure. Also, pixel size (1.55) doesn't get saved but defaults back to 5.6.

Any ideas how to use this camera properly with INDI?

I added the pixel information just now, so it should be in the next nightly. Not sure about the resolution issue.. what do the debug logs say?

It all behaves a bit strange and not everything is reproducible. After fiddling around a bit, I couldn't expose at all. It would just sit there never finishing the exposure. I purged teh configuration and reconnected and the driver came up with a different resolution, but I could capture with that. I then set the camera's resolution in the driver (4056x3040) and tried to capture, which forced the server to shut down. I attached a log.

I got it working using the indi_v4l2_ccd but not at that resolution. For instance 1024x768 works. I guess we need a driver that uses the same API as raspistill uses - Multi-Media Abstraction Layer (MMAL) as I understand it.

Yes, at lower resolutions I got it working as well. It's brand new, we'll see what happens! Very exciting device nontheless!

Hi, I am using the indi_v4l2_ccd driver and when I just try to set the full resolution (4054x3040) from the EKOS camera tab it don't accept those values which seem correct. If I go into the INDI control panel under "Image Info" tab and set the resolution there and then set the resolution in ekos cam tab to 4054x3040 and make a preview-shot the whole INDI dialog crashes. But I guess the real problem is that v4l2 video interface does not support this size. I think we need a new driver for the RPI camera interface.

Click on Download all the way at the top of this page and then select Ubuntu. The instructions are in that page.

Don't want to hijack this thread but
I am using Raspbian Buster.. Not Ubuntu.
Raspbian instructions "at the top of this page" refer to Astroberry, not sure if they can be used for StellarMate.
I'll try though.

Hello.

I got indi_v4l2_ccd to work at a proper resolution, but you have to set the camera in the correct mode first outside indii.
running
v4l2-ctl --set-fmt-video=width=4056,height=3040,pixelformat=2
before running the indi server gives me full resolution and RGB encoding

However, I still have a problem since when I try getting a color image, ekos seems to debayer it to only red color...
Still investigating.
