Hi!

Do you have an SD-Card mounted in your computer? Recently I had the problem that gphoto refused to connect until I unmount any SD-Card on my computer.

I have a SD-card in the RPi but not in the camera. Gphoto worked a couple of weeks ago bit after upgrading it stopped working.

It is most likely a gphoto issue, try checking with gphoto folks first.

I had an issue similar to this, and it ended up being that RPi was auto mounting my Canon DSLR. I found a reference where someone showed how to delete the following files to stop the auto mount:

sudo rm /usr/share/dbus-1/services/org.gtk.Private.GPhoto2VolumeMonitor.service
sudo rm /usr/share/gvfs/mounts/gphoto2.mount
sudo rm /usr/share/gvfs/remote-volume-monitors/gphoto2.monitor
sudo rm /usr/lib/gvfs/gvfs-gphoto2-volume-monitor

Hope this helps!

I have faced this issue. Check your software versions, especially libgphoto2
See gphoto.sourceforge.net/proj/libgphoto2/support.php for details.
Use the latest version of the software to make sure that your dslr is recognized.

Make sure the camera is not mounted as a file system. It blocks PTP usage needed by gphoto.
If it is unmount it and try again.
