Hi folks, this is my first post.
I have the exact same issue and a strange dependency problem.
I cannot install indi-full because it depends on indi-gphoto which depends on libraw20
In this context indi-pentax is mentioned too, which is under actual development?
If I try to install libraw20 apt informs me that it will purge kstars-bleeding kstars-bleeding-dbg and libraw19
This problem is quite new.
Hope this gives some kind of hint.

The git builds OK with libraw20.

Confirmed! libraw20 seems to be the culprit

I use a Canon EOS 600D and I have no problem to connect to the camera e.g. with this command:

gphoto2 --port usb --capture-image

I am having same problem on a fresh install of indi.
It seem indi 1.8.6 is using libraw20 while the stable kstars uses libraw19.
They keep removing each other. Must wait for an update on kstars :(

I am having the same problem, as I posted in another thread.

It is a dependency problem.

When trying to upgrade everything, there is this message:
The following packages have been kept back:
indi-gphoto
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 1 not upgraded.

$ sudo apt install indi-gphoto
Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created

The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
indi-gphoto : Depends: libraw20 but it is not going to be installed
E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages.

If I try to force install libraw20, the result is that kstars-bleeding will be removed!

The following additional packages will be installed:
indi-gphoto
The following packages will be REMOVED:
kstars-bleeding kstars-bleeding-dbg libraw19
The following NEW packages will be installed:
libraw20
The following packages will be upgraded:
indi-gphoto
1 upgraded, 1 newly installed, 3 to remove and 0 not upgraded.
Need to get 368 kB of archives.
After this operation, 94.7 MB disk space will be freed.
Do you want to continue? [Y/n]

KStars should depend on the same library version as indi-gphoto.

What we need is
a) a KStars update that depends on libraw20, or
b) revert back to libraw19 for indi-gphoto.

Hi

If you want it now, take the upgrade to libraw20 and let it remove kstars stable.

The git is good ATM. Build and install that until there's a fix?

Tested with indi-canon-ccd, indi-eqmod and indi-asi.

Even better, when you're back to stable, keep the git and help test:)

Steve

Thanks for the info.

But, I don't want to be running a development version.
I stick with stable releases as much as I can.
Less work and less surprises ...

If I use the nightly build, instead of the regular stable PPA, would it solve the issue?

I would think not, since Jasem has not posted in this thread or pushed a fix.
Right?
