I'm trying to understand ekos using the included simulators (CCD and Telescope). I tried to autoguide with success using the internal GSC database, the autoguider is calibrated and autoguide starts. However I cannot make the image drift, so the guiding pulses are always at zero. I tried to change PE period and PE max in the Simulator Config panel, but with no apparent results (even with very large PE), and also introducing a PAE does not seem to have any effect. Instead the OAG offset makes the image shift. Any thought?
I'm using KStars 4.3. on a Mac.
Thanks
The current telescope simulator has mount errors which may be able to generate drift. The MA and ME parameters define the polar align error so should give drift. Try values of a degree or two.
not if it doesn't work in the ccd simulator.
It is tricky to implement because it is an offset from where the mount thinks it is pointed. It would need a lot of work to implement something that behaved as a real mount does.
What problem would have having working PEC simulation solve?
