Ok, I'll add a new thread after I do some more investigation.
Yes, I made a mistake with my description, which is why Jasem made his comment. I meant "Capture and Solve", which is NOT supposed to move the rotator as far as I know. It never did before, only "Load and slew" did. I have edited my original post.

Pit,

I've merged a fix for focus options not getting saved properly.

Great! Will test it ASAP (but we are plagued by a low-pressure system at the azores, and the mountain is in clouds since almost a week :-((

I also saw some changes regarding the fit ("long tail" whe the fit isn't good) As I also experienced those I'm curious if that helped...

The "long tail" change isn't merged yet as I'm still testing it. Its definitely an improvement but may need some further tweaking when folks with different equipment get to use it.

FYI, the macOS nightly build worked last night, but the win64 failed.

The new focus system works well, but I did find an issue where it would have the one side of the curve ended much farther than the other when I used filters with an offset.
For example my OIII filter uses a 250 offset. So when I use that filter, I notice that every focus session (which switches to LUM) has funky curve. The inside of the curve is almost soube the outside. If I don't use any offsets, this does not happen.

Hi Peter,

I just played around a bit on the Sim and can't reproduce the issue. I fixed an issue, merged on 8th June, whereby if only 1 star is detected it was creating problems.

If you are using Walk=Classic then the solver would take another step inwards and retry so it could theoretically cause the inward half of the curve to extend.

If this isn't the issue, could you send me a log please.

John,

this is well worth reading! Thanks a lot for your hard work, this is a tremendous achievement, much appreciated!

While playing around with the new features I might have stumbled upon a small bug. As far as I can tell the CFZ calculation does not take into account my train's reducer/barlow factor of 0,75.
The factors 1,00 and 0,75 result in the same focal ratio and other values.

Hi Alfred,

Thx, you’re right! It’s defaulting the focal length from the telescope in the optical train. Should be adjusting it for the reducer. I’ll fix that.

I think the arc-second calculation will be wrong for the same reason - need to check that.

Hi Alfred,

I've fixed this issue in invent.kde.org/education/kstars/-/merge_requests/941

Its not merged yet as I need to test on my rig and I've had terrible weather for at least a couple of weeks. Will let you know when it is merged.
