If you get a package built of KStars in the next week or so, then that should solve your problem, and don't bother with minicom, picocom, the OnStep Python API ...etc.

But if you do not get it soon, then try one (or more) of the above workarounds.

@Khalid,

I already set the values as I like: +10* and 90* using the ASCOM driver properties, as it was advised by Howard Dutton.

I'm not good in building at Linux nor replaceing binaries. I'm going to update | upgrade my system, so it should replace the binaries for me.

Thank you again.

@Martha,

don't worry, if we work on it it is because we like it :-)
I hope your 90kg EQ Fork mount project will finish earlier as my Observatory.
I started building the observatory mi 2018 and now I am only changing the whole shape.
Now it is a cylinder with flat roof (slightly sloped).
It will change to a real dome so it is much work but this is the fact,
a project is always a big step at the beginning and later on an a lot of little improvements here and there ...
Some on hardware and consequently the firmware and so on.
here a snapshot of the work in progress ...

Have lot of fun

That is impressive! You need a lot of clamps, I know what it means, I have 9. :) Very nice project. I guess it has 3m diameter, am I right? Will it be controlled by OnStep?

I know that it's offtop, but let me please share my rig for DSOs. First pic is in an early stage last year, now it lokks like in the second pic.

I promised to Howard that I'll share results of my project when finished, but it's not finished yet. :)

@Martha,

No the observatory is controlled by custom hardware github.com/azwing/Observatory
built around Arduino Mega ...
I use Indi's Dome Scripting interface.
The reason why I change the Shape from Cylinder to Dome is that I have not to adapt coordinates transformations already done by Ekos.

About your Form , really impressive

hi all
i am suffering from the issue of connecting onstep with indi
i am using a ubuntu based linux pi, and a esp32 based onstep.
i tryed to install indi library including all 3rd party drivers, but it said
"Unable to locate package gsc". I had no choice but install "only indi library with basic drivers" and it completed well, i am not sure if that is enough for connecting onstep. But when i tryed to connect onstep with indi, and i got a error "failed to connect to port(dev/ttyUSB0). Error: Port failure Error: No such file or directory. Check if device is connected to this port"
by the way it could connect my qhycamera well.
Please forgive it about my poor english. Thanks!

Hi,

I am working under debian and gsc is not packaged for it

goto this site cdsarc.u-strasbg.fr/ftp/cats/bincats/GSC_1.1/
download the full catalog and binaries
I installed the catalog under /usr/share/GSC
and after I copied /usr/share/GSC/bin/gsc to /usr/bin (after compilation for linux)
and at the end added the following line at the end of ~/.bashrc
export GSCDAT=/usr/share/GSC

so that at each login I have the PATH for the catalog set-up

Hi Alain,

I see that the INDI repositories are updated, so I'll make a backup of my microSD card and will try to perform update | upgrade.

BTW, I just finished a video about building my fork mount, so if you have a spare 18 mins you can watch it. :)

Best regars,
Martha

Thanks :)

I was sick as well, but it wasnt Covid, as many people around experienced. Dry cough, I felt a pain even in stomach. Now is better, bu the cough stil exists.

We had several freezing days, I turned the setup on at -4*C. Thankfully most of the time I was at home. The sky was like never! :D An now we have clouds and rain again. I wanted to wait and grab maybe M45 or M31, but I think the whether won't change soon.

So, keep warm, drink a lot (of water ;) ) and don't be tempted to go outside at night! :)

I have an issue with focuser, and I am not sure what is wrong. Every other mount command works properly, but focuser fails to move.
I get:
2022-12-21T10:15:27: [ERROR] CHECK CONNECTION: Error sending command :FS025446#

But when I manually enter that command to SerailMonitor in Arduino, it moves fine.

Any ideas?

Hi,

I could not reproduce this.
I see you use previous version but there has been no change on focuser between the two versions.
I have exactly those commands without issues
Note that Second focuser has never been tested so far I know and for sure doesn't work within Ekos
