Hello everyone,
INDIForJava has a new life, it is now on GitHub ! I've contacted its developers, Richard van Nieuwenhoven and Sergio Alonso, and obtained their permission to take over the project.
In particular, I want to make this library work again with Java >9, update all the dependencies and fix some issues .
Moreover, I'm using INDIForJava in two other projects, which demonstrate this library's possibilities:
  • ThunderFocus , my cross-platform universal focuser
  • IPARCOS , an INDI client for Android which I've refreshed and improved a lot over the last year, starting from the work by Romain Fafet
If somebody has time, I invite you to help me with INDIForJava, the source code is quite huge and I'm no professional Java developer. Feel free to submit pull requests or report bugs! :)
Kind regards,
Marco Cipriani

That would be great, thank you! Actually, most of the INDIForJava documentation present in this website is outdated, we'll need to rewrite it. All the examples are based on I4J v1.38, and unfortunately v1.5 changed a good part of the API.
I'll let you know how it goes with the project!

(Note: I'm sorry if I've started this thread multiple times, the forum seems to have issues and refused some of my attempts, causing me to retry)

Welcome, and thank you for picking up a dormant project and running with it!

This may answer some of your questions about the forum: indilib.org/forum/new-forum-users/8195-w...-the-indi-forum.html

Thank you @xsnrg, I didn't see that post before. Maybe show it as a "fist time welcome guide"?

You are welcome. That is indeed the purpose of the post, but it seems it is still too difficult to find. @knro can we add a link to it in the announcements under the INDI version announcement?

Hi Marco,
I joined the forum to find out if INDIForJava was still active as there are various dead ends around.  Glad to see its re-activated! I would like to offer my help - if its still needed?

I'm a recently retired Java programmer so I hope I can be useful.

Regards,
John

Hi John,
Help is always welcome! There are some bugs to fix and I still haven't updated the library's examples since I've taken over the project.
You can contact me in Discord (marcocipriani01#8348) or via email (marco.cipriani.01 [at] gmail.com). If everything goes well, I'll add you in the INDIForJava GitHub organization so you can contribute directly.
Clear skies,
Marco Cipriani
