I'm planning to buy a dedicated ccd camera. My two last candidates are qhy 294 and zwo 294; both color version. Both of them are pretty identical. I wonder which of them have a more reliable indi driver. Which brand would you recommend for working with indi?
For your question, ZWO is much better at connecting to INDI and USB3 connections in general. I have had some instances with my ASI 294MC Pro does not connect to INDI, but QHY is much more finicky about making reliable connections to INDI hardware.
I love both my ZWO and QHY products for different reasons.
Also the QHY is not bin-locked, meaning you can use both the 11mp hardware 2x2 mode or the 46.8mp 1x1 bin mode on the QHY294. ZWO I think only has the 11mp mode.
QHY cooled products all seem to have a dew heater on the window which for me is needed due to my high humidity location.
But just looking at connectivity, the ZWO products seem to work better.
I'm almost decided and going for the qhy. I like the 294m pro. The dew heater sounds good and found to be quite cheaper.
Do you have by chance the qhy 294m using with indi?
Note: I did try to use my ZWO 294MC Pro the other night and I could not get it to connect to INDI, which was unusual. However I am using the nightly build of K-Stars.
I have many QHY products and I am quite happy with them.
Another neat feature if you are going MONO is the direct connection to the Filter Wheel via CFW cable. It powers and adds the filter wheel commands to the Camera when connected.
