Ekos Internal Guider - is Dec guiding still active when GPG is used for RA guiding? was created by Avocette

I have been very pleased with the performance of the Internal Guider in its recent improved version (with many thanks to Hy!) But I havent tried GPG yet, thinking that this was for an RA-only mount. Am I to understand that GPG is effectively an option which can improve the RA guiding but that Dec guiding carries on under the normal Internal Guider algorithm? Thanks for your clarification!

You are correct. GPG takes over computations of the correction pulses for RA algorithm, but
DEC pulses continue to be calculated by the "classic" scheme.

If you are using MultiStar, that computes the error for both RA and DEC, with or without GPG.
