I primarily use KStars/Ekos on a Mac to control a remote instance of Ekos on an RPi. Quite often Ekos displays dialog windows behind other windows instead of promoting them to the front. The example of this I run into most often is the dialog presented to cover the scope during flats/darks. Since the dialog is appears behind other windows (and the default countdown is 60 seconds), it sometimes fools you into thinking your system is hanging. If you move the INDI Control Panel or EDOS window around, you'll find the dialog in the background - often asking for a user input so a process can continue. Is there a setting for promoting these dialog boxes?
