I was having trouble getting good calibrations recently with the calibration showing significant orthogonal error. After trying everything to fix it - I discovered that my “delay” setting was the cause. I need a delay in the autoguider because of the hi-red encoders I have combined EKOS taking a guide exposure while my mount was adjusting after the previous guide pulse. But that setting really messes up calibration! I hadn’t realized that. So now I turn the delay back to zero when calibrating and I get a nice 90 degree angle.
But this means I can’t allow the scheduler handle guider calibrations. It would be nice if EKOS would temporarily set the delay to zero when calibrating and then back to my desired setting when finished.
