I'd tried to build from git, but it looks like SuSE 15.4 doesn't have the development RPMs for KDE Frameworks 5
Everything needed to compile is definitely in the repositories, you do have to install things yourself though, and packages might be named slightly different than in the READMEs that often only know about Debian....

Folks, please keep in mind that I didn't say it was fixed. I tested it with the latest 3.6.2 version and could not reproduce the problem. Since we reworked the filter manager integration, I'm hoping this has been fixed then.

But I would really appreciate if somebody could verify this.

Cheers
Wolfgang

How to verify? Have an optical train w/o filter wheel, and do an AF run?

Edit: That does work here without any problem (kstars git as of today, openSUSE Tumbleweed)

Yes, that was the test I did as well. Re you also using 3.6.1?

If yes, could you please check in your log if you find entries like this:
[ ] - QWaylandShmBuffer: mmap failed (Invalid argument)]
I just installed the official kstars version of Tumbleweed, 3.6.1-1.1.
That one also for me crashes :( (With train primary, with wheel, it runs)
(I used profile 'Simulators', added a new train w/o wheel, went to focus module and tried to run AF)

No error message in the logs (but I don't use Wayland anyhow), also not on the command line where I started it, only the segfault message.
During startup it complains that
Could not find property FOCUS_SYNC in Focuser Simulator
The log file (in verbose mode) only has

I also have some older (self-compiled) versions of kstars, and just tried kstars-3.6.1-3134_g218d763ba
(i.e., compiled from git as of commit 218d763ba).
That one also crashes....

As reported before, with the latest git, the crash does not happen, neither with simulator nor with real equipment.

Many thanks, Peter. Seems like the problem is fixed in the newer versions.

I can confirm that with the 2022/11/18 (3.6.2) git build on OpenSuSE Leap 15.4 EAF focusing all works fine without the need for a wheel simulator
