Hi,

Is it possible to set limits to RA/DEC position in a similar way ascom eqmod allows? This feature is to prevent hitting the pier/tripod in case a meridian flip fails.

Hi Miguel,

You can setup mount limits here:

The other thing worth doing is protecting against a Kstars crash (assuming you do unattended observing). If Kstars does crash then there won't be a MF or anything to enforce HA limits. There is a process called Watchdog that runs separately from Kstars and can be setup to take action if there is no longer a heartbeat to Kstars. A basic setup might be to park the mount if there is no heartbeat...

There is more info on Watchdog here:

Hi John,

Thanks for the reply.
I was insisting on finding those settings in the eqmod driver. Thanks for clarifying.

Regarding the watchdog, is something I saw a long time ago but didn't pay attention. Thanks for reminding me. I've been reading again and I have a doubt. As far as I understand, ekos acts as a client against the watchdog driver. How often does ekos send such heatbeats? The watchdog config heartbeat settings, as far as I understand, is the timeout the driver waits to receive the heartbeat. Does ekos also take this value to send them?

AFAIK kstars sends heartbeat every second. I set timeout to 60 seconds.
